Arrowridge

Rhodesian Ridgebacks

Our household always had pets: dogs, cats, and birds. In 1976 we purchased our first AKC registered dog: a red and white Basenji male. Our first AKC Rhodesian Ridgeback (RR) came to us in 1979, also a male. These two were our family pets who traveled with us everywhere.

Between 1980 and 1984, we acquired five more dogs: Rhodesian Ridgebacks and a tri-color Basenji, they all became American/Canadian Champions. In doing so, we traveled throughout the U.S. and Canada. We have gained many friends and the knowledge of other AKC breeds. In seventeen years of showing, our dogs have been owner-breeder handled.

We have bred Rhodesian Ridgebacks and a Basenji. When we bred our first RR litter, we kept a female: thus ARROWRIDGE, who also acquired a dual championship. From our second litter, Ch Arrowridge's Dawn at Sarrico entitled her mom, Rae Jean, her Register of Merit Award.

AM/CAN Ch Arrowridge African Queen was a multi Best of Breed (BOB) Winner in the U.S. and Canada. Ch Arrowridge Hatz' Shere Khan is a multiple BOB, Group Placer and has won Several RR supported Specialties. In 1992 and 1993 Shere Khan placed in the top ten RR in the U.S.

We have made great efforts to study our breed standard and have bred to strive for quality dogs. Therefore; good structure, conformation and temperament. Before we bred our dogs, they were OFA cleared of hip dysplasia. To breed is definitely a learning experience. Trying to be a caring and responsible breeder, we do not breed frequently.

We have encouraged and supported many new RR owner including our puppy buyers. Our puppies are placed in homes where there will be nurturing and bonding in the early stages of their development. Since this pet will demand complete commitment during its lifetime, we encourage our puppy buyers to keep in touch with us for information and advice. We emphasize the importance of telephone calls, letters and pictures as we are sincerely concerned for the welfare of their pet.
